LPs are back, and here's everything you need to know about shipping them safely.

For the first time in history, LPs are outselling CDs, making this a thrilling time to work in the music industry. Whether you're a vinyl collector looking for the latest release to add to your collection or a seller trying to connect with individuals looking for the right vinyl album, knowing how to ship LPs is essential.

Vinyl records are delicate, especially because many of them are over 50 years old (or more). Even new LPs can suffer from wear and tear during the mailing process. The good news is that we have you covered. Our LP record mailers will keep your records safe while in transportation, ensuring that they arrive at their destination in good condition.

Let's take a look at the steps you'll need to do to be sure your LP is delivered safely:

Remove the album from its jacket and inspect the plastic sleeve for damage. You should replace it with a new plastic sleeve if it is wrinkled, torn, or otherwise damaged. If the album's current plastic sleeve is the original, ensure you include it before mailing it. Return the LP to its cardboard covering after properly wrapping it in the new sleeve.

Next, double-check that you have the original LP's lyrics sheet and any additional materials. If any of these are damaged, notify the receiver before mailing the shipment. You may want to place the papers into a plastic bag so that they make it safely to their final destination.

It's time to place the album inside our cardboard mailers after you've protected the LP and any supporting paperwork. A single mailer can hold up to four LPs. You may want to use one of our filler pads between each LP to ensure that each record is protected. Add a filler pad on either side if you only transmit one record. While you and your recipient are both aware that your box contains something valuable, it can be difficult to predict how your LP will be handled along the way. It's critical to take all precautions to protect your vinyl record as it travels via the mail.

Finally, before you head to the post office, be sure to write "FRAGILE - VINYL RECORD - DO NOT BEND or use some of our printed "Fragile" tapes to secure the package. The last thing you and your recipient want is to have the record cracked or snapped during the shipping process. If you're a seller, be sure to follow up with the recipient after they receive your package to ensure that their vinyl album made it to them perfectly intact.
